All Truth, all Philosophy, all Religion are based on this one sacred Stone. Many men, full of presumption, believe themselves capable of fabricating it and yet, how rare are the chosen ones who are simple enough, wise enough, skilled enough to succeed! But that doesn't really matter. It is enough for us to know that the wonders of our Middle Ages contain the same positive truth, the same scientific foundations as the pyramids of Egypt, the Greek temples, the Roman catacombs and the Byzantine basilicas. This is, more or less, the scope of Fulcanelli's book. Hermeticists – or at least those who are worthy of the name – will also discover something else. It is said that light is born from the clash of different ideas: they will be able to recognize that here, in the comparison between the Book and the Building, the Spirit is freed and the Letter dies. Fulcanelli made the first effort for them; it is now up to the hermetists to do the last. The road left to travel is short. There is still a need to identify it exactly and not to move without knowing where you are going. What more do you want? I know, not because I discovered it on my own, but because the Author himself gave me the certainty of it more than ten years ago, that the key to the greatest mystery is given, without any pretense, by one of the figures that illustrate this Opera. And this key consists solely of a color, manifest to the artist from the beginning of the work. No philosopher, as far as I know, has grasped the importance of this essential point.
